Window, Door, Blind & Screen Repair in Winnetka, IL

By Vlad Kuleshov, Lead Technician & Founder at Capahome LLC • Updated September 2026

Winnetka is renowned for its architectural heritage, featuring breathtaking historic estates, Tudor manors, and classic Colonial Revival homes. The custom wood windows, leaded glass accents, and heavy exterior doors in these properties are an essential component of their character and market value. Replacing these authentic fixtures with modern vinyl inserts is not only extraordinarily expensive—often costing tens of thousands of dollars—but it also diminishes the architectural integrity of the home.

At Capahome LLC, we specialize in high-precision restoration that preserves original millwork. Whether your home has custom wood-clad casements with fogged double-pane glass or historic sliding patio doors that no longer glide smoothly, we provide surgical repairs that protect your home’s historic charm.

Precision Architectural Window & Door Services in Winnetka

• Surgical Insulated Glass Unit (IGU) Replacement: When a double-pane seal fails in a custom wood window, we delicately remove the interior glazing beads without cracking the antique wood or damaging surrounding paint. We seat a newly fabricated insulated glass package featuring Low-E thermal protection, re-bed it with commercial glazing tape, and reinstall the original stops.
• Heavy Solid-Wood Patio Door Slider Repair: Winnetka estates often feature heavy wood-framed sliding patio doors leading to stone terraces. When internal steel rollers corrode from coastal Lake Michigan humidity, the door binds. We extract the bottom roller assemblies, install high-capacity stainless steel tandem rollers, and align the door to seal flush against drafts.
• Casement Mechanism & Brass Hardware Restoration: We service premium casement operators, replacing stripped internal gears, realigning hinge tracks, and adjusting multi-point locks to eliminate cold air infiltration during freezing North Shore winters.
• Custom Copper & Pet Screen Rescreening: We repair custom-dimension window screens and patio door sliders with specialized mesh options, including high-transparency insect mesh and tear-resistant pet screens.
